Brace yourself for summer weather, San Luis Obispo County — triple-digit heat is on the way.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for interior areas of San Luis Obispo County from Tuesday at 10 a.m. to Thursday at 8 p.m. as temperatures soar into the 90s and 100s.

“There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning and those active outdoors,” the weather service said.

Wednesday and Thursday afternoon are expected to experience the hottest temperatures, the weather service said.

To avoid heat illness, drink fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms and out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

If working outside, wear lightweight and loose clothing, and “try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening,” the weather service said.

The advisory applies to Creston, the Carrizo Plain, Santa Margarita Lake, Paso Robles, Templeton, New Cuyama, Atascadero, Lake Nacimineto, Shandon and San Miguel — and more areas could be added this week.

If you want to cool off, head to the coast. In Morro Bay, the temperature shouldn’t break 70 degrees, and in Pismo Beach, the hottest day will be Wednesday with a high near 78 degrees.
