Circus Vargas to pitch its tent in SLO this summer. How to attend
Circus Vargas is bringing the Big Top back to San Luis Obispo this summer, featuring aerialists, acrobats and clowns under one traditional circus tent.
The theme of this year’s Circus Vargas production, which will run from Friday, June 26 to July 20 at the Madonna Inn, is “Masquerade.”
Circus Vargas was founded in California in 1969 and is one of the world’s largest traveling circuses, according to a news release. The circus is owned and operated by Katya Arata Quiroga and Nelson Quiroga — seventh-generation circus performers.
The show will include hand-balancing, aerial arts, unicycle performances and motorcyclists spinning in the “Globe of Death.”
Circus Vargas bills itself as an alternative to the modern era of screen-based entertainment—an “experience where parents and children alike can disconnect from devices and connect over shared gasps and laughter,” according to the release.
The show will run once daily on every weekday except Tuesday, with three showings available every Saturday and Sunday. All shows are two hours long and family-friendly.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online. Children under 2 receive free admission, and senior and military discounts are available.
