Over 20 farms, ranches and producers will offer free events this weekend as part of SLO County Farm Trail’s Open Farm Days Weekend — featuring everything from beekeeping tours to olive oil tastings to farm animal meet-and-greets.

The sixth annual event, organized by local nonprofit organization FARMstead ED, will kick off Friday with the Friday Night Farmers’ Marketplace from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Downtown City Park in Paso Robles. The marketplace, which is free to attend and does not require registration, will bring together farmers and producers to showcase locally grown and made products.

With the exception of the Farmers’ Marketplace, guests must register to attend weekend events. Registration is free and should be done online through the My805Tix website.

FARMstead ED provides a planning guide on its website that shows the dates, times and activities for each participating location. Visitors should reference the guide and plan their schedule ahead of time, as some farms are open for limited hours and some activities may require additional registration or payment, according to the guide.

In addition to the planning guide, FARMstead ED provides an interactive Open Farm Days Weekend trail map for visitors to plan their routes. Participating farms are spread throughout SLO County, spanning from a lavender farm in San Miguel down to a fruit and vegetable farm in Arroyo Grande.

“Open Farm Days is an invitation to connect with the land, the people and the products that make our local agricultural community so special,” Lynette Sonne, FARMstead ED & SLO County Farm Trail Founder, said in a news release. “It is a chance for guests of all ages to experience where food is grown, how products are made, and why supporting local agriculture matters.”
