A new ‘cabin hotel’ could be coming to SLO County wine country. See what’s planned
A new “modern cabin hotel” may be on its way to Paso Robles — that is if the city’s Planning Commission and City Council approve it in the coming months.
Proposed by Outward Development LLC, the company hopes to build what it is calling “Outward,” a community of cabin hotels that allow guests to enjoy both the serenity of nature and the luxury of a hotel on a 25-acre lot located at 2727 Buena Vista Drive.
The property is currently unoccupied with empty grape vine rows and dry grass roughly 3 miles from downtown Paso Robles and 1.5 miles from Highway 46.
Nearly every direction features views of vineyards and rolling Paso Robles hills.
Plans for the Outward development consist of 107 detached lodging units to provide overnight accommodations from a weekend to a 30-day stay — 80 studios, 16 one-bedroom units and 11 two-bedroom units, according to Outward Development’s project plans.
On the property would also be a 7,000-square-foot lodge with a swimming pool and gym, five fire pits, an established wood-fired pizza food truck and games like bocce ball and horseshoe throughout the 25 acres.
But before the project can actually come to fruition, it must get the OK from both the Planning Commission and City Council.
The project passed the first hurdle Monday after the development review committee toured the property and decided to move it forward to the Planning Commission, where it’s anticipated to be reviewed again in late August or early September, commissioner Sharon Roden told The Tribune.
