An early morning fire destroyed a building in rural San Luis Obispo County on Friday and caused a brief vegetation fire.

Fire crews reported to the structure fire near the 9700 block of Highway 58 in the California Valley around 1:48 a.m. on Friday, Cal Fire posted on X.

The fire fully engulfed the single-story building, which was determined by Cal Fire to be abandoned. The blaze also jumped into the nearby vegetation, causing a 1/8-acre fire, Cal Fire said.

By 8:16 a.m., both the structure and vegetation fires had been extinguished. The structure was completely destroyed, Cal Fire reported.

The cause of the blaze was still under investigation as of Friday morning.
