Looking for outdoor fun in San Luis Obispo County? Several spots have free movies playing throughout the summer.
Selections range from classic comedies and animated movies to superhero flicks.

What movies are playing in Atascadero?
The city of Atascadero is bringing back its Summer Movies at the Park screening series in 2026.
You can watch movies outdoors at Colony Park, 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero, on select Saturdays this summer.
On Saturday, June 13, organizers will screen “Zootopia 2”
You can watch “Footloose” on Saturday, Aug. 29.
“Arrive at 7 p.m. for games, activities and family fun before the film starts shortly after sunset,” organizers said.
According to online clock Time and Date, sunset will be at 8:18 p.m. on June 13 and at 7:33 p.m. on Aug. 29.
Food will be available for purchase at the park. You can also grab at bite at a nearby restaurant.
Streetside Ale House and Eatery, 6155 El Camino Real in Atascadero, serves burgers, tacos and sandwiches.
Barley & Boar is also near the park, and has entrees including steak, pork chops, fish and ribs. The restaurant is at 5925 Entrada Ave.
Are there free movies in San Luis Obispo?
SLO Public Market is offering free movie screenings all summer long at 3845 South Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo.
The fun kicks off Friday, June 12.

- June 26: “Zootopia 2”
- July 10: “Captain America: The First Avenger”
- July 17: “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
- July 24: Surf’s Up

- Aug. 7: Inside Out 2
Nearly all movies will start at 8:30 p.m. — except “Zootopia 2,” “Mamma Mia” and “Inside Out 2,” which start at 8:15 p.m.
SLO Public Market has a variety of restaurants serving everything from pizza and poke to Thai food and fried chicken.
Baht offers “street-style Thai food inspired by the market of the Bangkok district”, while Jay Bird’s Hot Chicken has sandwiches, tenders and fries.
California Tacos Cantina and Distillery has Mexican dishes including burritos, tacos and tostadas.
Does Pismo Beach have movies in the park? Grover Beach?
Dinosaur Caves Park, 2701 Price St. in Pismo Beach is set to host a free outdoor movie screening in September.
The yet-to-be-announced film will be screened Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“This free, family-friendly outdoor screening is the ultimate laid-back evening — just bring a lawn chair and get cozy,” organizers said.
What can I watch for free in Grover Beach?
“The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Square Pants” will be screened at 16th St. Park in Grover Beach on Friday, June 12.
“Bring your own picnic blankets or lawn chairs,” the city said.
The free movie screening will start at 6 p.m. at South 16th Street and Mentone Avenue, with concessions available for purchase at 5 p.m.
What is the Paso Picture Show?
The Paso Picture Show is an outdoor movie venue summer pop-up in Paso Robles.
This is not a free event as tickets cost $21 per person. Children 15 years old and under get free admission.

- July 11: The Princess Bridge
- July 18: The Goonies
- Aug. 1: Field of Dreams
- Aug. 8: Bottle Shock
- Aug. 22: Honey I shrunk the Kids
- Sept. 19: E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
- Sept. 26: Somm
All the movies start at 7:30 p.m. except “The Goonies” start at 8 p.m. and “Bottle Shock” starts at 7:45 p.m.
“Bottle Shock” and “Somm” are 21 years old and up screenings.

Movies will be screened at Venteux Vineyard at 1795 Las Tables Road, except “The Princess Bride” will be at the Bianchi Winery, 3380 Branch Road and “Bottle Shock” is at Le Vigne Winery, which is located at 5115 Buena Vista Drive.
Venues will have snacks and drinks like popcorn, candy, wine and beer.
