SLO County bomb squad responds to ‘suspicious device’

Several Grover Beach roads were temporarily shut down on Tuesday afternoon as law enforcement responded to a “suspicious device” in the area.

At 2:02 p.m., the Grover Beach Police Department responded to a call about a “suspicious device” near Le Sage and Highway 1 at, the Police Department said in a post on X.

Officers confirmed the presence of the device and secured the area while the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office’s Bomb Squad was en route.

The Grand Avenue entrance to the Oceano Dunes and other roadways were closed during the response, the post said.

At 2:26 p.m., the device was rendered safe by the bomb squad, and all roadways reopened.

The exact nature of the device was not immediately clear as of Tuesday afternoon.
