Rollover crash backs up traffic near Highway 101 in Atascadero

California Highway Patrol and Atascadero police responded Saturday afternoon to a rollover crash near Ramona and Del Rio roads in Atascadero that caused traffic backups in the area.

According to CHP traffic logs, the solo-vehicle crash was reported around 11:49 a.m.

Initial reports described a white SUV that rolled over before landing upright on the right-hand side of the roadway. CHP logs later identified the vehicle as a gray Honda SUV.

Additional callers told dispatchers the vehicle may have come from the northbound side of Highway 101 before ending up on Ramona Road, according to CHP logs.

Atascadero police and fire personnel later confirmed the vehicle was on Ramona Road near Del Rio Road.

An ambulance response was requested, though the extent of injuries was not immediately available Saturday afternoon.

Traffic backups extended toward the San Ramon area shortly after noon, CHP logs indicated.

Tow operations were later requested for a vehicle described in dispatch records as having sustained “complete rollover damage.”
