Car crashes off Hwy. 1 after hitting debris from pickup truck’s tire blowout
The California Highway Patrol responded Saturday morning to a crash on southbound Highway 1 near Villa Creek Road after a reported tire failure and debris incident.
According to CHP traffic logs, the crash was reported around 7:57 a.m. about one mile south of Villa Creek Road, near Cayucos.
Initial reports indicated a white pickup truck towing a utility trailer lost a left rear tire on the northbound side of the highway, creating debris that allegedly struck another vehicle.
A blue Subaru Crosstrek went off the roadway and into bushes about 20 feet off the southbound shoulder, according to CHP logs.
CHP logs also referenced a heavy debris field in the southbound lane. Tow trucks were requested for both vehicles Saturday morning.
Additional details about injuries were not immediately available. CHP traffic logs initially classified the incident as involving an ambulance response.
