88-year-old dies after being hit by vehicle in Pismo Beach parking lot

An elderly pedestrian died on Thursday after being hit by a vehicle in a San Luis Obispo County parking lot.

The 88-year-old Arroyo Grande man was hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of Med Plus off of Oak Park Boulevard in Pismo Beach around 10:15 a.m., according to a news release from the Pismo Beach Police Department.

When police arrived to the scene, Med Plus employees were administering first aid, and the man was loaded into an ambulance, but he died during transport to the hospital, police said.

According to the release, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol were determined to be a factor in the incident, the release said.

The death was actively under investigation by the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office as of Friday morning.
