Multi-vehicle crash blocks traffic on Hwy. 101 over Cuesta Grade

Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash in San Luis Obispo that backed up traffic on Highway 101 over the top of the Cuesta Grade on Wednesday morning.

At around 7:58 a.m., a crash involving two or three vehicles was reported on the northbound side of Highway 101 at the Monterey Street off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page.

Within a few minutes, an additional caller reported that three or four vehicles were involved in the crash, which blocked the No. 1 lane.

By around 8:11 a.m., four vehicles were confirmed to be involved in the crash, and a tow truck was dispatched to the scene of the crash.

Meanwhile, southbound traffic heading down the Cuesta Grade slowed at the bottom of Highway 101, backing up around halfway up the slope starting around 8:13 a.m., while northbound traffic trickled through the narrowed roadway, according to the CHP page.

No injuries had been reported as of 8:30 a.m.
