Original Story:

A major San Luis Obispo road was closed Tuesday morning as police investigated a crash between a car and a motorcyclist.

Broad Street was closed at Caudill Street “for an indeterminate time,” the San Luis Obispo Police Department posted on X around 9:52 a.m.

Only the southbound lanes were closed, with traffic still open headed toward downtown. Southbound traffic was being detoured at Woodbridge Street to Mitchell Drive, where it re-entered Broad.

Evidence markers were placed at various points on Broad for about a block, and clothes were piled in the street in one spot.

SLO Police Department spokesperson Christine Wallace told The Tribune the crash involved a car and motorcycle.

A photo shared by the Police Department shows a police motorcycle parked at the corner of the streets sectioned off by caution tape.

Another motorcycle which did not appear to be a law enforcement vehicle was parked standing up on the sidewalk behind the police tape.
