A three-car crash blocked lanes and backed up evening commute traffic on Highway 101 in southern San Luis Obispo County on Monday afternoon.

At around 4:21 p.m., a multi-vehicle collision occurred involving a white Tesla, a small sedan and one other car, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident report page.

All three vehicles were originally blocking the No. 1 lane on southbound Highway 101 just south of Avila Beach Drive, CHP said.

A reporting party said one car’s airbag had deployed and the driver was “holding their face,” the CHP log said.

By 4:39 p.m., both the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes were blocked on southbound Highway 101, CHP said.

An ambulance and tow truck were en route to the site of the crash, and one person was reported to have minor injuries, according to emergency radio traffic.

According to Caltrans’ Quickmap, traffic was slowed from South Higuera Street to Shell Beach Road as of 5 p.m.
