A car crash that downed communication lines in San Luis Obispo County also closed a section of Highway 41 to all travelers for an unknown amount of time Wednesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page, the CHP first received reports of a solo car crash that took place around 10 feet off of the roadway, taking down communication lines in the area, at around 10:14 a.m.

The crash and downed communication lines closed Highway 41 in both directions between Cerro Alto Road and the Atascadero Creek Bridges, according to a post on X from Caltrans.

Caltrans advised drivers to take alternate routes, as there is currently no estimated time for reopening.
