Local food and drink pop-ups coming to SLO airport. Here’s what to know
Travelers passing through the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport will soon be able to try new food and drink pop-ups at the terminal.
The SLO airport recently launched a new pilot program that will showcase local small businesses at the travel hub, the airport said in a Wednesday news release.
The Small Business Partners program lets food, drink and merchandise companies from across the county partake in rotating pop-up activations at the airport, according to the release.
“Our airport is often a visitor’s first and last impression of the region,” Director of Airports Courtney Johnson said in the release. “Small Business Partners allows us to bring the best of SLO CAL into the terminal — local flavors, local makers, and local stories — so guests can experience the community from the moment they arrive. It’s a program rooted in collaboration, unity, and helping businesses thrive together.”
Several small businesses will be featured each month, the airport said.
It’s initiating the new program to highlight more local businesses at the hub, as well as to enhance the travel experience as passengers move through the terminal.
Businesses that are chosen to participate will “reflect the character, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the Central Coast,” according to the release.
“By welcoming local businesses into our airport, we’re helping raise awareness of the incredible entrepreneurs in our community while creating opportunities for them to reach new audiences,” SLO County Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg said in the release. “This program reflects our shared commitment to supporting small businesses and strengthening our local economy.”
