U.S. Army band, chorus returning for free concert at Cal Poly. How to get tickets

Good news, San Luis Obispo County music lovers — a free concert is coming to the Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly next month.

The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will make a return visit to San Luis Obispo on Feb. 22, offering a free opportunity to enjoy live music performed by active-duty soldiers.

The ensemble last visited San Luis Obispo for a similar free concert at the PAC on Oct. 19, 2023.

The Field Band is the official touring musical representative of the U.S. Army, according to the event website.

“Their mission is to connect with Americans, share Army Stories, and honor Veterans as the Musical Ambassadors of the Army,” the website read.

The group’s performances range from “orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics, and Broadway musicals,” the event website said.

A video on the site showed the band playing the main “Star Wars” theme by John Williams.

According to the event website, the two-hour concert will start at 3 p.m. on Feb. 22 in Harold Miossi Hall at the PAC. Doors will open at 2 p.m.

While the event is free to attend, all attendees must be ticketed and scanned in by 2:45 p.m, the website said.

Tickets can be reserved at the Cal Poly PAC event website.
