Garage goes up in flames during late-night SLO County fire

A fire blazed through the garage of a San Luis Obispo County home late Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on the 9000 block of Santa Clara Road in Atascadero around 10:47 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Cal Fire post on X.

Several fire units “knocked down the fire quickly” and were able to contain the blaze to the garage, Cal Fire said.

Video from the agency showed firefighters removing sections of the garage door as large plumes of smoke billowed from the residence.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no injuries were reported, according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire committed around two hours of resources to complete overhaul operations in the aftermath of the fire, the agency said on X.
