5 animals dead after SLO County barn goes up in flames in early morning fire

A barn in Templeton was ablaze early Friday morning.

Around 5:08 a.m., crews responded to a structural fire at 150 Vaquero Road, according to the emergency app PulsePoint.

At 6:12 a.m., firefighters were actively working to contain the fire, Cal Fire said. Residents were asked to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

The fire was extinguished around 9:20 a.m., the agency posted.

One horse and four pigs were killed in the fire, Cal Fire said.
