Car crash brings down power lines on Highway 101 in SLO County
Heavy traffic has stretched through San Luis Obispo on Highway 101 running north-bound into the Cuesta Grade after an early morning crash on Saturday.
According to a post on X from the California Highway Patrol in San Luis Obispo, drivers should expect delays throughout the day as repairs continue on PG&E power lines along Highway 101.
At about 4:57 a.m. on Saturday, CHP was notified of a car with three people that had gone off the roadway and crashed into a power-line pole off of Highway 101 north-bound, according to Angela Gonzales, CHP public information officer. The crash happened near Fox Hollow Road before the Cuesta Grade.
No injuries resulted from the crash, but around 6 a.m., traffic began to pick up in the area, Gonzales said.
An additional crash on the south-bound end of Highway 101 near the initial incident had also caused traffic to build up in the area, Gonzales said, but has since cleared.
According to Gonzales, PG&A continues to repair the down power lines.
Gonzales predicted traffic could loosen up on Highway 101 around 5 p.m. Saturday, but still expects intermittent delays into mid-afternoon.
