Update, 4:20 p.m.:

The part of Highway 1 closed between Ragged Point and just north of Lucia reopened Sunday.

According to a post on X by Caltrans, the portion of the highway reopened following its closure on Saturday related to an overnight storm in the area.

Further north of Lucia, the ongoing closure at Regents Slide on Highway 1 remains in place, the post read.

A portion of Highway 1 closed Saturday evening from Ragged Point into Monterey County.

The highway closure began at around 7:30 p.m. due to rock and mud slides in the area, according to an incident report on Caltrans QuickMap.

The agency later announced the highway closure through its X account.

The closure on Highway 1 spans from Ragged Point to four miles north of Lucia, the post said.

There was no estimated time for re-opening the portion of the highway.
