A part of Highway 166 closed on Saturday due to major flooding near Maricopa.

Between Highway 99 and Highway 5 just outside of San Luis Obispo County, Highway 166 was closed after heavy rain and flooding hit the area during the atmospheric river storm, according to a post by the California Highway Patrol for Fort Tejon and Grapevine.

Officials advised people to drive slow and cautiously through the Grapevine as the risks of hydroplaning and crashing increase due to the wet weather conditions, the post read.

While all warnings and advisories have since expired across Southern California as of around 2 p.m. Saturday, according to a post on X from the National Weather Service, there is still potential for convective showers and thunderstorms through the day.
