How senior dog was rescued from mud, prowling coyotes in SLO County
A 16-year-old dog was rescued and reunited with his family after getting stuck in mud and facing off with coyotes at Lake Nacimiento on Monday.
A San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputy “was in the right place at the right time” when he happened upon Jagger, a senior pup, in Heritage Ranch, the Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
Jagger was stuck in the mud at Lake Nacimiento with coyotes trying to get to him, the agency said.
“With quick thinking and help from local residents who recognized Jagger from social media posts the day before, they built a makeshift bridge and safely rescued this scared pup,” the post said.
Jagger was reunited with his family after a bath, treats and “lots of ‘good boy! praise,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
“We are grateful for our community’s involvement and our deputy’s quick action today protecting every member of SLO County, even the four-legged ones,” the post said.
