SLO County traffic stop leads investigators to guns, drugs and an explosive device
A 64-year-old Arroyo Grande man was arrested early Friday morning after a traffic stop led investigators to finding drugs and an explosive device.
San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies stopped Michael Rosso on the 600 block of Mesa View Drive in Arroyo Grande around 3 a.m., the agency said in a news release.
During the stop, deputies found drug paraphernalia, narcotics and a firearm inside Rosso’s vehicle, the agency said.
Investigators then obtained a search warrant for Rosso’s residence at the 600 block of Ralcoa Way “based on information gathered at the scene and further investigation,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
There, the agency said, investigators found three firearms, 6.3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and an improvised explosive device.
The San Luis Obispo County Bomb Task Force was called to the scene and safely removed and disposed of the explosive device on-site, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Rosso was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a destructive device, possession of a controlled substance for sale, armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, the Sheriff’s Office said.
As of Tuesday, Rosso did not appear to be in jail custody according to the Sheriff’s Office inmate database.
