Power restored to nearly 4,000 in SLO County, including Cuesta College
An early morning power outage knocked out electricity 3,729 customers in San Luis Obispo County, including Cuesta College.
The college campus closed Monday morning due to the outage.
The outage, reported to PG&E at 6:09 a.m. on Monday, stretched from the school’s San Luis Obispo campus up Highway 1 to Morro Bay, according to PG&E’s outage map.
At 9:25 a.m., PG&E predicted power would be fully restored to the area by 3 p.m. By 11 a.m., power was restored for all but 73 customers in Morro Bay, including full restoration of power to Cuesta College, according to the outage map.
By 2:45 p.m., power was fully restored in the area.
Cuesta College closed due to power outage
Cuseta College lost power in the outage, prompting the school to close its San Luis Obispo campus until Monday afternoon.
The school alerted its campus community in an email Monday morning.
According to the school, PG&E must conduct a comprehensive check of all power lines in the area, which will take until mid-morning.
Power was expected to return by 10 a.m., and campus will reopen to students and staff at noon, the school said.
Operations and classes online and at other sites — such as Cuesta’s satellite North County campus in Paso Robles — will be held as scheduled, the school posted on Facebook.
