Target in San Luis Obispo could soon start selling your favorite vodka, gin and more.

According to a notice posted on the window of the Los Osos Valley Road business Aug. 25, Target has applied for two new alcohol licenses from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control department: one to be able to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits and another to allow limited tastings of those products on-site.

According to the ABC website, the licenses would be transferred from the former Rite Aid store on Johnson Avenue in San Luis Obispo, which closed in August.

Target currently is only licensed to sell beer and wine products at its San Luis Obispo store.

If the licenses are approved, the San Luis Obispo location would be the first in the county allowed to sell liquor. Target on Theatre Drive in Paso Robles is currently only approved to sell beer and wine products as well.

The Target on Betteravia Road in Santa Maria is the closest location that sells distilled products.

A request for comment on the application from Target’s corporate office was not returned as of Thursday.
