Part of major SLO street to close for roadwork. When, where to expect delays

Drivers may face traffic delays due to roadwork on a major San Luis Obispo street, according to Caltrans.

The lanes are being blocked off for a pavement restriping project, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Here’s what to know:

When and where will SLO lanes be shut down?

Caltrans crews are working on restriping road markings on Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo between the Madonna Inn and Higuera Street, the state roads agency said in a news release.

Alternating lane closures will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Monday, Sept. 8, through Wednesday, Sept. 10, the road agency said.

According to Caltrans, at least one lane will stay open in each direction of Madonna Road while work is underway.

Highway 101 off ramps at Madonna Road will not be impacted by roadwork, Caltrans said.

Will painting work stall traffic?

Caltrans told travelers to expect some delays while access is blocked to select lanes on Madonna Road.

“Allow for extra time during your commute through the area,” the state roads agency said.

Message and directional signs will be in place to help guide motorists traveling through the area during the project.
