A heat advisory was issued Saturday for much of the Southern Coast including San Luis Obispo County, and is predicted to last through the Labor Day weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles, the heat will likely affect inland parts of SLO County from 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Cities near the coast of SLO County are expected to be under heat advisory from Sunday morning to evening, the weather forecast service said.

People are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothes, avoid the outdoors during peak heat hours and never leave children or pets in vehicles unattended, according to the advisory.

Moderate to high risk for heat illness is expected during this period for people who are sensitive to the heat or do not have cooling systems available.
