Hwy. 101 crash near base of Cuesta Grade backs up traffic in SLO

A crash on Highway 101 slowed traffic to a crawl in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday evening.

At around 4:11 p.m., a crash between a blue Mercedes SUV and a brown Honda CR-V was reported on the northbound side of Highway 101 near the base of the Cuesta Grade, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information page.

The crash backed up traffic from near Prado Road to Monterey Street heading north on Highway 101, Caltrans cameras showed.

A tow truck was requested shortly after the crash was reported, according to the CHP log.

As of around 4:50 p.m., the crash had been cleared but traffic remained slow through the area.
