Sorry, San Luis Obispo drivers — you won’t have access to Costco’s discounted gas for a couple months.

According to a sign posted at the Froom Ranch Way store, the station will temporarily close Aug. 25 as the store adds more pumps.

In an application filed with the city in March 2024, Costco said it planned to add 10 fuel pumps under a 9,256-square-foot canopy extension. It also planned to expand its parking lot with an additional 129 spaces behind The Home Depot.

The station currently has 12 pumps, so the expansion would nearly double its capacity. Often boasting the best prices in town, Costco’s gas station often can have lines several cars long at each pump.

The closure is expected to last approximately 64 days. Costco itself will remain open throughout the closure.

“We appreciate your continued patronage and apologize for the inconvenience caused to our valued members,” the sign read.
