Certain AT&T customers in San Luis Obispo County were not able to call 911 — or other phone numbers — for much of Tuesday.

A phone service outage reduced the type of calls 405 landlines could make in the Oak Shores, Bradley and Lake Nacimiento areas starting at 10:58 a.m. on Tuesday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“At this time, residents with 805-472 numbers are unable to make calls outside of the 805-472 exchange, including calls to 911 or the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch line,” the release said.

Cell phones were not impacted by the outage.

AT&T was working to resolve the outage on Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide an estimated time that service would be restored.

“We urge residents to check in with neighbors, especially those who may not have access to a cell phone, and help ensure they are aware of the outage and have a way to call for help if needed,” the release said.
