A Templeton man was arrested Tuesday evening after a more than four-hour standoff with San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies first responded to an in-progress domestic violence incident at 41-year-old Enrique Rubio’s home in the 800 block of Golden Meadow Drive around 5:41 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

By the time deputies arrived on the scene, the agency said, the female victim had exited the residence and was treated at a local hospital.

Rubio, however, remained inside the residence and refused to exit.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies confirmed there were no other individuals in the home, but Rubio barricaded himself inside.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home and repeatedly asked Rubio to surrender, but he did not comply.

The Sheriff’s Office then deployed its unmanned aerial systems, crisis negotiation and special enforcement detail teams.

Rubio finally surrendered around 10:16 p.m., the agency said.

Rubio was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Rubio was in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail with a $525,000 bond, according to the Sheriff’s Office online database.
