Stores were forced to close along Los Osos Valley Road on Friday evening when the power went out in the area.

The PG&E Outage Map showed power out from near Highway 101 to past the Laguna Village Shopping Center. In total, 1,694 PG&E customers were without electricity, including neighborhoods of homes and several major businesses.

The outage left the usually busy parking lot at Costco empty. Nearby, a sign on the door at PetSmart read, “Due to power outage we are closed until further notice.”

The power outage was actually one of two that began along the LOVR corridor at 4:18 p.m., PG&E said. The SLO outage was expected to be restored by 9:15 p.m.

Another outage also knocked out electricity to another 382 customers farther down Los Osos Valley Road, from Foothill Boulevard all the way to the edge of Los Osos. Power was expected to be restored there by 9:30 p.m.
