A vegetation fire broke out near Santa Margarita Lake on Friday afternoon.

According to emergency services app Watch Duty, at around 1:10 p.m. Cal Fire received reports of a vegetation fire giving off smoke on the north side of the 4600 block of Las Pilitas Road.

Spreading at a slow to moderate rate of speed, the fire reached three to five acres of vegetation in a grassy area home to oak woodland by 1:24 p.m., reaching six acres by 1:41 p.m., according to Watch Duty.

Multiple Cal Fire units were dispatched to the scene of the fire, including air attack vehicles and tankers, according to emergency services app Pulsepoint.

The fire eventually grew to 10 to 15 acres before forward progress was stopped at around 2 p.m.
