A San Luis Obispo County man was majorly injured in a motorcycle crash near Templeton on Tuesday night.

At approximately 7:35 pm, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a solo motorcycle crash on El Pomar Drive east of Vaquero Road, the agency said in a news release.

Officers discovered that 51-year-old Atascadero resident Jeremy Thomas had been driving a black Suzuki motorcycle west on El Pomar Drive at a high rate of speed, the release said.

While rounding a turn, Thomas lost control of the Suzuki, causing the bike to cross the road into the opposite lane and eject him from the motorcycle onto the south shoulder, the release said.

He sustained major injuries and was transported to Adventist Health Sierra Vista hospital, the release said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to have been a factor in this crash, which is pending further investigation by the CHP, the release said.
