Three people were arrested after San Luis Obispo Police Department officers allegedly found psychedelic drugs, fentanyl and meth inside a vehicle on Memorial Day.
According to a news release from the agency, an officer saw a car with expired registration traveling on Los Osos Valley Road at Madonna Road around 2:49 a.m. on May 26.
The agency said when the officer stopped the vehicle, they found the driver, 30-year-old Atascadero resident Micah David Ayhens, was driving with an expired license and was on probation with search terms, meaning that Ayhens was required to submit to a search anytime he was stopped by law enforcement.
Ayhens refused to leave the vehicle several times, and when a sergeant attempted to unlock the car door through a partially opened rear window, 35-year-old San Luis Obispo resident Rickter Art Marr, who was the passenger in the back seat, grabbed the sergeant’s arm, according to the release.
Another officer then broke off the driver’s side window and unlocked the door, police said.
“After a short struggle with Ayhens and Marr, they were both taken into custody,” the release said, adding that 29-year-old San Luis Obispo resident Kiona Marissa Zamora, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was also taken into custody.
According to the release, officers found a lock box on the floor of the front passenger side of the car which contained suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine, known as the psychedelic substance “MDMA,” fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, a digital scale and a large quantity of small plastic bags commonly used to package drugs.
Several small bags of suspected fentanyl were also found on the floorboards, door panel and front seats of the car, police said.
Ayhens, Marr and Zamora were all booked into San Luis Obispo Obispo County Jail on suspected felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales and felony transportation of a controlled substance.
Ayhens and Marr also faced possible charges of felony conspiracy to commit a crime and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Ayhens had an additional suspected misdemeanor charge of driving with an expired license while Marr was suspected of misdemeanor public intoxication, according to the release.
All three were no longer in jail custody as of Wednesday, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office inmate database.
None have been charged by the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office as of Wednesday, according to court records.
