Popular review site Yelp recently rounded up the best family-friendly eateries for dining out with children.

The top 10 local restaurants offer everything from ocean views and outdoor seating to menus little ones will enjoy.

Here’s what each place has to offer:

Ada’s Fish House

  • Address: 558 Price St., Pismo Beach
  • Business hours: Open 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

According to Yelp, Ada’s Fish House was the No. 1 place for dining out with children in SLO County as of Tuesday, May 20.

Yelp reviewer Fabian Z. called the restaurant an “awesome place” with “great food and always family-friendly customer service.”

The seafood eatery touts a kid’s menu featuring fish and chips and macaroni and cheese.

Petra Mediterranean Pizza & Grill

  • Address: 1210 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo
  • Business hours: Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
  • The casual Mediterranean spot landed in second place on Yelp’s list of the top kid-friendly restaurants in the area.

    “(The) menu is family friendly,” Elite Yelp reviewer Eliza J. of Avila Beach wrote, while the outdoor seating is ideal for pet lovers. “Petra is a perfect, cozy spot to dine in casually. Order, sit back with a cold brew, roll up your sleeves and be ready to enjoy.”

    Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is also a fan of Petra. In 2024, he featured the restaurant on his Food Network show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”

    Even though there’s no dedicated children’s menu, Petra boasts several kid-friendly food options, including seven different types of pizza.

    Taste! Craft Eatery

  • Address: 2550 Broad St., San Luis Obispo
  • Business hours: Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily
  • The third restaurant on Yelp’s list, and another favorite of Fieri’s, is Taste! Craft Eatery.

    The new American restaurant offers 67 different menu items, letting families choose from a selection of sliders, salads, Brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese and more.

    Taste! Craft Eatery offers a “great atmosphere and service. (It’s) kid friendly too,” Yelp reviewer Ray P. of Sunnyvale wrote. “Another bonus is that it’s located away from the center of town and quieter.”

    Taste! Craft Eatery offers similar options at its North County location, 810 11th St. in Paso Robles.

    “(The) server was super nice, very prompt to take care of us,” she wrote. “This is a family friendly place (that’s) very clean and spacious.”

    The waterfront restaurant offers views of the bay and a few kid-friendly meal options including burgers and fish and chips.

    Wild Fields Brewhouse

  • Wild Fields Brewhouse snagged the fifth spot on Yelp’s list of family-friendly places to eat and drink in SLO County.

    The casual brewpub welcomes beer lovers and families alike, according to its website.

    “IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN GO TO HERE!! It’s revolutionary,” Yelp reviewer Dominique O. of Paso Robles wrote. “Kids think they’re at a special place for them. ... Meanwhile, you can actually talk to the adults you’re with AND finish a meal AND have beer.”

    The brewpub sells hot dogs, sandwiches, mac and cheese and a “kid’s charcuterie” plate with apple slices, cheddar cubes and pretzel sticks.

    1865 Craft House & Kitchen

  • The farm-to-table restaurant placed seventh on Yelp’s list.

    A fine dining spot at Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa, Lido Restaurant & Lounge is welcoming towards families and has sweeping ocean views, according to Yelp reviewers.

    “The food was good,” wrote Yelp reviewer Liz T. of West Covina, who dined there with her husband and children. “We would come back again.”

    Lido Restaurant & Lounge also has an extensive kids menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. All meals come with a drink and a side of ice cream.

    Loading Chute

  • Address: 6350 Webster Road, Creston
  • Business hours: Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday
  • According to Yelp, the American steakhouse was the eighth-best spot to take kids in SLO County.

    Loading Chute in Creston has a large outdoor dining space and an expansive menu filled with burgers, steaks, sandwiches, pizza and seafood.

    “This place is very family friendly and (I) was relieved to see many other people with kids,” Yelp reviewer Karen J. of San Luis Obispo wrote.

    Shell Beach Brewhouse

  • Address: 1527 Shell Beach Road, Pismo Beach
  • Business hours: Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • The No. 9 spot on Yelp’s list of family-family restaurants in SLO County went to Shell Beach Brewhouse.

    The laid-back gastropub has 30 beers on draft and nine flat-screen televisions.

    For children, there’s a kids menu that offers turkey corn dog nuggets, chicken tenders and french bread pizza.

    “Shell Beach Brewhouse is a good place for having beers with friends and it is very family friendly as well,” wrote Yelp reviewer George S. of San Luis Obispo.

    Mersea’s

  • Address: 3985 Avila Beach Drive, Avila Beach
  • Business hours: Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily
  • Mersea’s in Avila Beach landed the No. 10 spot on Yelp’s list.

    The causal seafood joint has outdoor seats right on the water.

    “Mersea’s is a good place to go and have some delicious fried food and a cocktail and take the kids and family to,” Yelp reviewer Neil P. of Bakersfield wrote.

    Children can choose from a hamburger, grilled cheese, hot dog, fish and chips or chicken strips on the kids menu.
