Paso Robles appoints new city manager after settlement with Ty Lewis
The city of Paso Robles has appointed a new city manager, officially filling former city manager Ty Lewis’ role after his departure in January.
Chris Huot — who has served as interim city manager in Lewis’ absence — will take over the role, city attorney Elizabeth Hull announced after closed session at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
“It is my pleasure to announce that the council has chosen Mr. Huot as the next city manager for the city of Paso Robles,” Hull said. “We will be bringing forward an employment agreement for him at the next meeting.”
Beyond serving as interim city manager, Huot also worked as assistant city manager under Lewis for over two years, he told The Tribune in a September email. Prior to serving in Paso, he worked as an assistant city manager for the city of Bakersfield.
Huot has worked in city management for over 13 years, he said in September.
The change in city leadership comes after former city manager Lewis signed a settlement agreement with the city in January.
The settlement agreement followed a $2.275 million claim against the city, in which Lewis alleged that City Councilmember Chris Bausch harassed him to the point he experienced medical problems.
Lewis went on medical leave in August, returned to office in November and announced his retirement in January.
