SLO County city is No. 2 in the nation for outdoor getaways, study says. Here’s which one

San Luis Obispo County is home to one of the best outdoor getaways in the United States, according to Yardbarker.

The lifestyle news website recently released its list of 22 perfect places for an active, outdoor getaway in the United States and the city of San Luis Obispo landed the No. 2 spot.

“The Central Coast might just be California’s best-kept secret,” Yardbarker said.

Just two California destinations landed spots on the site’s list.

Besides SLO, Joshua Tree in southern California came in at No. 6.

Why is SLO one of the best outdoor getaways?

San Luis Obispo nabbed second place on Yardbarker’s list based on its access to outdoor activities, such as hiking and surfing.

The lifestyle site described the college town as “charming” and “the perfect base to explore.”

“Go surfing in the morning at Oceano or Pismo Beach and then hike the numerous trails along the coast in the afternoon,” Yardbarker wrote.
