Fire kills 2 cats, causes $500,000 in damage to SLO County home

A fire killed two cats and severely damaged a modular home in Templeton on Thursday morning, Templeton Fire and Emergency Services said.

The residents reported the fire at their Bennett Way home at 7:25 a.m., the Fire Department said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw smoke pouring out of the garage and front door of a double-wide modular home, a news release from the agency said.

Firefighters extinguished the majority of the blaze within 30 minutes, the agency said.

No people were injured in the fire.

The fire caused $500,000 of damage to the property, the agency said.

Templeton Fire and Emergency Services, Cal Fire, the Atascadero Fire Department and the Paso Robles Fire Department responded to the incident.
