Update: Highway 41 reopens after big rig crash forced closure

A major stretch of Highway 41 connecting the Central Coast to the Central Valley reopened Monday morning after a crash forced lane closures, Caltrans said.

Highway 41 was shut down around 6 a.m. due a big rig traffic collision, the California Department of Transportation announced on X.

It was reopened at 9:15 a.m., the state road agency said.

“All lanes open and cleared,” Caltrans said on X.

Where was Highway 46 closed?

On Monday morning, Highway 41 was closed from the border between San Luis Obispo and Kings counties to the junction with Highway 33 in Kings County, Caltrans said.

“Motorists are advised to use an alternate route,” the state road agency said.

What detours can I take to avoid traffic?

Caltrans advised travelers to take Highway 33 to Highway 46 while the closure was in place.

Highway 41 was reopened around 9:15 a.m. Monday morning, Caltrans said.
