Two mountain lions were killed within hours of each other when they were hit by cars in San Luis Obispo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The first crash occurred off Los Osos Valley Road on Wednesday night at around 7:30 p.m. The mountain lion died at the scene, and the driver was uninjured, according to CHP.

The second crash happened around 7 a.m. off Highway 1 just south of the California Men’s Colony.

Like the first, the mountain lion died at the scene, and the driver reported no injuries, the CHP told The Tribune.

Officers notified California Fish and Wildlife of both crashes, CHP said.
