Dead body found in Cuesta College parking lot under investigation, Sheriff’s Office says

A death on Cuesta College’s campus is under investigation by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office just as the winter semester starts.

According to the Cuesta College Police Department, campus police received a report of an unresponsive person in a parked vehicle in Lot 2 of the college’s parking lot Tuesday.

Responding to the scene, campus police determined the individual was deceased after calling for emergency medical assistance.

According to a statement from Cuesta College, the Sheriff’s Office is working with the Cuesta College Police Department and has taken the lead in the investigation.

Additional details were not available during the ongoing investigation, the community college said.

“My heart and deepest sympathy are with the friends and family mourning this loss,” Cuesta College president and superintendent Dr. Jill Stearns said in a statement.
