Price Canyon Road and the Union Pacific Railroad were shut down for two hours Tuesday morning as firefighters attacked a spot fire in a difficult-to-access location.

It was along Pismo Creek where an encampment was located at the bottom of the canyon.

Cal Fire assigned several units to the call east of Thousand Hills Road at 5:34 a.m., according to emergency response app PulsePoint.

Access from the road was via a railroad bridge, leading to both being shut down to allow firefighters to battle the fire.

Containment of the fire to a few hundred square feet was called on the scanner an hour later, and after two hours units were released and the road opened.

Cal Fire, CHP, Pismo Beach Police Department and the county department all responded to the call.
