Car crashes off of Avila Beach roadway near Olde Port Beach onto rocks below

A car went off of Avila Beach Drive and into the rocks off the Olde Port Beach in Avila Beach on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page, at around 2:01 p.m. a car went off the road onto the rocks around 20 to 30 feet down from the roadway.

The vehicle, a gray Mercedes hatchback, appeared to collide with a white Mini Cooper before going off the road, CHP Officer Matthew Kenney said at the scene.

Two occupants were reported trying to get out of the vehicle at around 2:02 p.m., according to the page.

The occupants reported minor injuries, Kenney said.

A tow truck was called to the scene around 2:11 p.m., according to the CHP page.
