Ringing in the new year in San Luis Obispo County? You might want to check the weather forecast before heading out.

The National Weather Service is predicting a breezy start to 2025.

The weather agency issued a wind advisory for areas including Lopez Lake, Nipomo and San Luis Obispo that will be in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Winds of 15 to 25 mph were expected to whip through the area, with gusts up to 35 mph blowing around unsecured objects and “making driving difficult,” the weather service said in its advisory.

“Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” the agency said.

What will the weather be like on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day?

Here’s the outlook:

What’s the forecast for SLO on New Year’s Eve?

Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, will be sunny in San Luis Obispo, with a high temperature near 62 degrees and wind gusts as high as 30 mph, according to the weather service’s latest seven-day forecast.

The temperature will drop as low as 42 degrees overnight, when winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

What will the weather be like on New Year’s Day?

More sunshine is expected for the first day of 2025.

The weather service predicted clear skies on Wednesday, New Year’s Day, with a high near 70 and wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

What about the rest of the week?

According to the weather service, Thursday will be sunny, with a high near 72 and an overnight low around 48.

Sunny skies are also expected Friday, which will have a high near 67.

Patchy fog will roll into the San Luis Obispo area after 10 p.m. Friday.

Otherwise, the night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday will see patchy fog followed by sunshine, with a high near 64 and a low around 45.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 64.

What’s the New Year’s Eve forecast for Paso Robles?

Folks celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Paso Robles area can also expect sunny weather, according to the latest forecast.

Tuesday will have a high near 59, the weather service said, although “wind chill values” will be as low as 25. Winds will be around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

On Tuesday night, the low temperature will dip to around 33 while winds will gust as high as 20 mph.

Paso Robles will see areas of frost after 4 a.m. Wednesday and before 10 a.m.

Otherwise, New Year’s Day will be sunny, with a high near 63 and an overnight low around 38.

Wind gusts up to 15 mph are expected during the day.

The weather service predicted clear skies for the rest of the week, with highs in the mid- to high 60s and lows in the high 30s and low 40s.
