An injured mountain biker was airlifted to the hospital Saturday afternoon after plunging down a hillside in the hills above Montecito.

Firefighters responded shortly after 12:30 p.m. to the incident on the Romero Trail, according to Christina Atchison, public information officer for the Montecito Fire Protection District.

A 59-year-old man ended up approximately 150 down a hillside, Atchison said.

He was hoisted into Santa Barbara County’s Copter 308, and flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

His name and details on his condition were not available.

Assisting on the incident were crews from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the sheriff’s Search & Rescue Team.
