Holiday Trolley returns to downtown SLO. Here’s when and how to hop aboard

Want a festive way to get around downtown San Luis Obispo this December?

Look no further than the Holiday Trolley now running four days a week through the heart of the city and up to the end of Monterey Street.

This merry transportation option is decked out in cheerful decorations and adorned with strings of holiday lights.

For a small fee, locals and visitors can take a “delightful ride (that) captures the magic of the holidays,” according to a city news release.

The tricked-out trolley will loop around downtown for most of the month.

“We encourage everyone to hop on board, explore and enjoy the festive atmosphere,” Jennifer Rice, deputy director of mobility services for the San Luis Obispo Public Works Department, said in the news release.

When does the trolley operate?

You can ride the Holiday Trolley now through Dec. 29.

It runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

How expensive is it? Where does it go?

It costs $0.50 to hop on the Holiday Trolley. Seniors and disabled riders can take the trolley at a discounted rate of $0.25 per trip.

But make sure to bring some change or a dollar as the trolley only accepts cash.

The Holiday Trolley’s route loops around downtown before going up and back on Monterey Street as far as La Cuesta Inn. It makes 16 stops along that route.
