Free holiday parking is returning to downtown San Luis Obispo, just in time for the holidays.

The city recently announced it will offer free parking at downtown structures on a total of 13 days between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day in a push to support shopping locally during the holiday season.

“Downtown is the hub of all holiday activities in San Luis Obispo,”Jennifer Rice, deputy director of mobility services for the San Luis Obispo Public Works Department, said in a news release.

“We are happy to continue the tradition of providing free garage parking during Thanksgiving Day and weekend, Sundays in December, and Christmas and New Year’s,” she said.

When can I park for free in downtown SLO?

The city is making parking free for several days during the holiday season:

Here’s when:

  • Thanksgiving Day and weekend — Nov. 28 through Dec. 1

  • Sundays in December — Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
  • Christmas Eve — Dec. 24
  • Christmas Day — Dec. 25
  • New Year’s Eve — Dec. 31
  • New Year’s Day — Jan. 1

Parking will also be free during the city’s annual holiday parade on Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Where are free parking spots during the holidays?

You can nab free parking at all three public parking garages in downtown San Luis Obispo, according to the city release.

Here’s where the structures are located:

  • 842 Palm St.
  • 919 Palm St.
  • 871 Marsh St.
