Heads up, holiday travelers: Car crash slows Highway 101 traffic near Pismo Beach

Heads up, holiday travelers: A crash on Highway 101 closed at least one lane of the highway near Pismo Beach on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a California Highway Patrol post on X, the crash involved a single vehicle and was blocking lanes on the northbound side of the road south of Price Street.

A second vehicle was also involved in a crash near the scene of the first collision, according to emergency response app PulsePoint.

Emergency vehicles from Cal Fire and the CHP, including an ambulance, were dispatched to the scene of the crash around 11:42 a.m., according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

By 11:42 a.m., traffic was backed up to Oak Park Boulevard, according to the CHP page.

The crash comes as the CHP warned of an increase in holiday travel traffic in the North County, “especially on the northbound side of US-101.”

“Please give yourself extra time for your trip, and please be patient,” the CHP said in the post on X.
