Outage knocks out power for thousands in SLO County — including a high school football game
Thousands were without power — and one high school football game was in danger of being called off — after an outage cut electricity to much of Nipomo on Friday night.
According to PG&E’s outage map, roughly 2,085 customers were without power as of 7:30 p.m. The outage included eastern Nipomo along Thompson Road and part of Los Berros Road.
The outage was reported at 6:48 p.m., according to PG&E.
“Our team is evaluating the electrical system to identify damaged sections and make necessary repairs in order to safely turn the power back on,” PG&E said.
Power was expected to be restored by 1:30 a.m.
The outage caused delays at Nipomo High School’s Friday night football game as well as officials considered calling off the game due to the lack of electricity.
